Preventing Tax Evasion Policy
Beacon People Limited (“we”, “us”) is committed to compliance with the Criminal Finances Act 2017 and to preventing the criminal facilitation of tax evasion by our staff, associates, or in our supply chain. This policy sets out our approach and the procedures we have in place.
1. Legal context
The Criminal Finances Act 2017 introduced corporate criminal offences where a relevant body (including a company) fails to prevent an “associated person” (e.g. an employee or agent) from criminally facilitating UK or foreign tax evasion. A defence is available if the body had in place reasonable prevention procedures. We take these offences seriously and have adopted procedures designed to prevent facilitation of tax evasion.
2. Our commitment
We have a zero-tolerance approach to the facilitation of tax evasion. We do not facilitate tax evasion, and we expect our staff, contractors, and business partners to act in accordance with the law. We are committed to operating our payroll and tax compliance in a transparent and correct manner and to ensuring that those who act on our behalf understand and comply with this policy.
3. Prevention procedures
We have put in place procedures that include: risk assessment of our operations and supply chain in relation to tax evasion facilitation; due diligence on associated persons and business partners where appropriate; communication and training so that staff and relevant others understand the law and this policy; and clear reporting channels so that concerns can be raised. We review these procedures periodically and update them as necessary to ensure they remain appropriate and effective.
4. Reporting
If you become aware of any situation that you believe may amount to or involve the facilitation of tax evasion, you must report it in accordance with our whistleblowing or reporting procedures. We will investigate any such reports and take appropriate action, including reporting to the relevant authorities where required.
