Modern Slavery Statement
This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Beacon People Limited (“we”, “us”) have taken during the financial year to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or our supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to safeguard against modern slavery.
1. Our business and structure
Beacon People Limited provides umbrella payroll and employment services to contractors and agencies in the UK logistics sector. We are based in Preston and operate across the United Kingdom. Our workforce is employed directly by us; we also work with recruitment agencies and other business partners as part of our supply chain.
2. Our policies
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our policies reflect our commitment to ethical conduct and include: right-to-work checks for all workers; fair and transparent employment terms; and expectations that our suppliers and partners comply with applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same standards from anyone we do business with.
3. Risk assessment and due diligence
We assess the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chain. Our direct operations are UK-based and we employ our contractor workforce under standard employment arrangements with full right-to-work verification. We engage with agencies and other partners who supply or refer workers; we expect them to conduct their own due diligence and to comply with legal and ethical standards. Where we identify higher-risk areas, we take additional steps to assess and mitigate risk.
4. Training and awareness
We ensure that relevant staff understand the risks of modern slavery and the importance of compliance with this statement and the law. Training and communication are provided as appropriate to roles and responsibilities.
5. Reporting and whistleblowing
We encourage the reporting of any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Staff and workers can raise concerns through our normal channels or in accordance with our complaints and whistleblowing procedures. We will investigate any such reports and take appropriate action.
6. Effectiveness and review
We will review the effectiveness of our approach periodically and update our policies and procedures as necessary. This statement will be reviewed and updated at least annually and published on our website.
7. Approval
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Beacon People Limited and is signed on behalf of the company.
