How umbrella payroll works
From timesheet to payslip: our process in plain language.
The basics
Under an umbrella arrangement, you are employed by the umbrella company (Beacon People). You work on assignments arranged by agencies or end clients. We run payroll, deduct tax and National Insurance under PAYE, and pay you after our margin and employment costs. What you receive is your net pay; we provide detailed payslips so you can see how it’s calculated.
- 1 Register and onboard. You complete registration and provide right-to-work and ID. We set up your employment and pay schedule.
- 2 Submit timesheets. You submit timesheets for approval (usually by the agency or site). We use approved times to calculate pay.
- 3 Pay run. We run payroll on our published schedule, deduct tax, NI, and our margin, and pay you. You receive a payslip for each pay period.
Transparency and audit trails
We do not guarantee specific take-home amounts; pay depends on your hours, rate, and statutory deductions. Our approach is to make the calculation visible and to keep records that support compliance for you and for agencies under supply chain and JSL obligations.
