Umbrella Payroll

Getting paid

Everything about how your pay works: schedules, overtime, payslips, and holiday pay.

As a Beacon People contractor, you are paid in line with your agreed schedule once your timesheets are approved. This page explains pay runs, how we handle variable hours and overtime, what appears on your payslip, and how holiday pay works. We do not provide tax or legal advice; we describe our processes in plain language.

Pay schedules and pay runs

We operate regular pay runs so that approved timesheets are processed and paid in line with our published schedule. Pay frequency depends on your assignment and our agreement with the agency; we will confirm your pay schedule at onboarding. For many logistics assignments we offer weekly pay, which means you are paid every week once that week’s timesheet has been approved.

Submitting timesheets on time and correctly is important so that your pay is not delayed. The agency or site typically approves your times; we use approved times to run payroll. We will explain the process and cut-off times when you register. If you need a different cycle (for example fortnightly or monthly), we can set that up where our processes allow—ask at registration or contact support.

Overtime, shifts, and irregular hours

Logistics work often involves night shifts, weekends, and overtime. Our timesheet and payroll processes are set up to record these so that the right hours and any applicable premiums are reflected on your payslip. How overtime or shift pay is calculated depends on your assignment and the rate agreed with the agency; we process what is approved and passed to us.

We are committed to transparent payslips so you can see how your pay is made up. If you have questions about a specific payslip or how a particular week’s hours have been paid, our support team can help.

Your payslip explained

Each pay period you receive a payslip showing your gross pay (before deductions), then deductions for tax, National Insurance, our margin, and any other agreed deductions. The amount you receive in your bank account is your net pay. We structure our payslips to be clear and to support your own records and any queries.

If you need help understanding a line on your payslip, our team can explain what each part means in general terms. We do not provide legal or tax advice; for your personal tax position, please seek independent advice.

Holiday pay

As your employer, we are responsible for ensuring you receive holiday pay in accordance with the law. Your entitlement and the way holiday pay is calculated can depend on your pattern of work—including variable hours. We apply our processes in line with current regulations and aim to make the treatment clear on your payslip and in our communications.

If you have questions about your specific entitlement or how a period of leave has been paid, we can explain our process. For advice on your rights, you may wish to seek independent guidance.
